if you like zelda and adventure games, you will love this. It's fun to paint stuff on the screen, how ever in escence this is Zelda in a wolf character.
With the help of the gods, who give Amy her powers, you use the celestial brush to paint objects or complete moves. The music score is excellent as well, as it tends to be more ancient Japanese sounding, which fits well with the game. The storyline is exceptional and the amount of side quests will give you a lot of game play. The style of the game is very familiar to playing any of the 64 on up Zelda games. In this case you have to draw circles around the un-bloomed blossoms to make them come to life, but if you mess up once, you have to start over again, and the first time I did this it took me almost twenty times till I got it right. The story is great, taking parts from an array of Japanese myths and folklore.
I recommend getting this game, but if you do become frustrated, save and come back to it later. Okami is a great game. You play as the white wolf Amy, shortened from the longer Japanese name, and with you is your trusty sidekick Issun. Orange and helping him bloom the cherry blossom tree).
This can be a pain when you are up against a tough boss, or as in many cases in the game when you have to help a NPC do something (like Mr. There are many times, even outside of combat, when you have to use the celestial brush to draw in cherry bombs or slash enemies, and the Wii sometimes will not accurately accept what you have drawn. Sounds easy right.
The use of the celestial brush, while unique and interesting for a game, is a bit complicated, but the game is very good. The actual graphics however is unique in that it uses a Japanese art of drawing, and it looks like you are playing a game that has come off an ancient Japanese tapestry. For some reason on certain gods, where you place the dots is very sensitive and even a slight pixel away will force you to redraw the stars. Together, you traverse to different terrains, trying to expel the evil that has littered the land.
Another example is when you get your powers.the god will be outlined in the form of a constellation in which you have to place dots of ink on the stars. The only downfall to this game is how it incorporates the use of the celestial brush, as you use the remote and actual hand movements to complete the tasks. You meet many characters that help you along the way as well. Besides the celestial brush, Amy also has weapons that she can attack with, my favorite being the bead weapons, as besides swinging the Wii remote, you can shoot projectiles using the nunchuk.
but can't tell much beyond because i don't have a tv now to play :(. i have played about 3 hrs of this ,,, like 3 real hrs of fighting and real action (not just exploration). this is where i believe i will stick to the a gaming console like wii if at all i stick to one.
Its a ported version for wii (from ps2). at some points, you feel like you need more pointer-precision but this should be remedied by the new addon-controller for the wiimote. If you are a Wii fan, get this.
Also, this game proves the point that there are more genres available for gaming consoles than just blind shooting at an undisclosed location. waiting to see if the prices are going down its not a pretty popular game in terms of volume of sales but its nevertheless one of the best made.
the story-telling is good.
The most basic stroke of the game, the "power slash" is just a straight line, but almost impossible to carry out in a way that the game will accept. Totally maddening.
Unfortunately, I've found no workaround for this problem. The battle controls also don't seem to work very well, so I often just end up wiggling the controller around and pressing the buttons randomly. Google for "okami power slash" and you can read others complaining about it.
This is perhaps the most beautiful game I've ever seen. I'm embarassed to say that I've spent 25 minutes at a time in these loops--slash, slash, slash, slash, slash, slash, slash, slash, slash, slash, slash, slash, slash, slash, slash, slash, slash, slash, slash, slash, slash, etc., while the game chided me over and over about not paying attention.
This mostly works okay.Aside from that, it also crashes if you kill too many enemies at the same time, but this is easy enough to avoid. This game could have been so perfect, if only. Nice music, concept, etc.Unfortunately, the it assumes a lot about the accuracy of the wii controllers that just isn't true in real life.
This doesn't matter much of the time, but there are a few places where you *must* do it correctly several times in a row (or be sent to start again) and these are hell.
So if you like length, you're in for a treat. Buy it, now it's less than 20 buck and the experiece you'll get is more valuable. Also, the gameplay is very appealing all the way. Hope you guys enjoyed the review. So that's what I will donow. So, about graphics let's just say that if you're those gamers that preferred the almost real 1080p reolution, you may probably find it as an issue here. Let's start by saying that this game was originally released for Playstation 2. But don't get fooled, this game is a million times better on the Wii, almost meant to be for the Wii. Two words, just amazing.
Duration, Okami took me around 50 hours to complete and not at a 100% (maybe a 80%). Also, Capcom, the developers of this game said that they would love to do a sequel but for that to happen they just want to wait for the original Okami to increase it's sales. Last but not least is for example, one of the greatest features of this Wii system: the wii motion controls. Thank you Capcom for this masterpiece. You play as a god that learns throughout the whole adventure various techniques that involve the using of pointing and moving in the screen with some accuracy for the technique to work, so the wii motion controls plays here a much nicer role in a way that if you imagined using the analog stick od the playstation 2 controller just woudn't do justice.Well, that's all for the review of one of the greatest, most appealing games I've played in a long time. It's envolving the whole time, it can suck you like any other incredible games like Zelda. That's exactly why Okami is much better on the Nintendo. If you ask me to buy a game, I as many of you would probably do is read about it, about its gameplay, graphics, duration, audio, story, genre, etc.
Actually it resembles the series of Zelda games because of the whole variety of items, weapons and other elements, so for me at least gameplay likethat will fullfill my expectations. So yes, the story is also one of the strong points here.I don't want to make ths review much longer (or boring if you may) so I will just summarize the other topics I considered to be very important also. As a playstation 3 owner I can tell you that even the fact that the graphics for this amazing game obviously doesn't look real at all, the fact that they look like an aquarella painting, for me it's just an art work, and probably wouldn't change it if I could because it's one os the characteristics that can make you fall in love with th game. Also, a mayor topic here is the story. It has many twists in the story that makes you get even more sucked every now and then.
